In a modest studio, nestled within the heart of our family home, the story of MDTC Jewelry began. It all started in the 1960s with my father, Chris, a young and passionate craftsman who, at the tender age of 16, embarked on a journey that would shape not only his life but mine as well. He honed his skills under the roof of Cartier, one of the most prestigious jewelry houses in the world, where he dedicated a decade of his life perfecting the art of handcrafted jewelry.

In the early 1990s, as the world around us evolved, my father chose a different path. He left behind the grand halls of Cartier, driven by a desire to create something personal, something that was more than just jewelry. He wanted to build connections. When I was born, he opened a small studio in our home, where he began accepting custom orders from neighbors and friends. With no brand name, no fancy machines, and only his hands to guide him, he crafted each piece with the care and precision that only a true artisan could. My father wasn’t just a jeweler; he was a storyteller, crafting tales of love, celebration, and memory into every piece he made. To me, he is a hero—a kind and loving man who taught me the value of integrity and the importance of treating every client as a friend.

Born in the 1990s, I, XILING FENG, was raised in this world of glittering gems and intricate metalwork. From the age of 12, I stood by my father’s side, learning not just the skills of our trade but also the values that made his work so special. Every piece of jewelry was a labor of love, a reflection of our commitment to our clients, and a testament to the bonds we forged with them.

In 2018, I took a leap of faith and opened our first physical jewelry store in New York City. It was a proud moment, a realization of years of learning and passion. But as the world changed with the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, I found myself back in Hong Kong and Shenzhen. The challenges of running a physical store in such uncertain times were immense, but every challenge brings with it an opportunity.

In September 2021, I launched our online business on Instagram, bringing our family’s craftsmanship to a global audience. What started as a small venture quickly grew, and within three years, our official account, @mdtc_jewelry_us, garnered over 305,000 followers.

Together with my father, Chris, my wife, Emily, and our small but mighty team, we continued the tradition of crafting each piece of jewelry entirely by hand.

Our journey is about more than just making jewelry; it’s about building relationships—friendships that last a lifetime. That’s why we treat every client as we would a friend, offering not just a beautiful piece of jewelry but a promise: a lifetime warranty that reflects our commitment to quality and trust.
